Serving Ministries
What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good[a] is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
- James 2:14-26

7 Steps to the Kingdom
By Pastor Jack Brewer, Evangelist & Fordham Gabelli School of Business Professor
Before I fully submitted to God in April if 2019, one of my biggest fears was missing out on the lifestyle that I lived for over 20 years after being a collegiate and pro athlete as well as a national media personality and world traveler. To my surprise, I’ve learned that nothing can be more exhilarating than the supernatural experiences that you get while serving God. There is nothing more fulfilling than being used by Him to make an eternal difference in the lives of people while advancing His purposes in the world. (Romans 12:4-6, Revelation 4:10-11) Before we can fully serve and honor the Lord, we must first take the steps needed to serve and honor Him. Think about it, can we call someone if we do not have their phone number? Just because we pick up the phone, it doesn’t mean that the Lord is on the other line. In order to pick up the phone and call our Father, we must first follow the Bible. (Malachi 1:6-11). Just like any successful endeavor, it takes true dedication to following the proper steps.
These critical steps cannot be rushed or forced into action. Each step must be fully embraced, otherwise you may leave yourself exposed to attacks from satan. As we pursue God and recieve his blessings, we will always be tested by evil.
Serving Ministries 7 Steps to Following Christ Jesus

01
FOUNDATION BUILDING
Foundation building - in order to build anything sturdy, we must first have a solid foundation. This starts with making sure that we have addressed things that may or may not have been caused by our actions. The Bible speaks a lot about curses and generational sins that can plague your lineage. These are considered soul ties and they must be addressed first, before you can truly begin your relationship with the Father. We must clean our past in order to have clean future with God. The devil clings to the ungodly, so if past evil soul ties remain then it will be much easier for Satan to damage your foundation in Christ. With no foundation, your relationship with Christ will have holes which will become weakness. Cleansing your soul ties will require Daily devotion and repentance. Step 1 is critical to moving through the next 6 steps.

1 Corinthians 6:16-18
Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.” But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit. Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.
1 Thessalonians 5:23
May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 6:12
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

02
STUDYING THE WORD
Studying the word in order to feed your spirit, cast away evil and arm yourself with the sword to defeat the demons of the spiritual realm, we must commit ourselves to studying the word of God Daily. Just as we eat, drink and sleep. This is the only way you can even pick up the phone to speak to the Father. You must constantly feed yourself with the word of God. This is how you seek God, through the word. Before you can have anything in life, you have to want it. A strong commitment to studying Gods word helps establish an unwavering commitment to seek our Father in Heaven.

Hebrew 4:12
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

03
FAITH
Faith can also be known as the “key” to God. If you want to unlock a door or gate, you usually need a key. Well, to unlock your relationship with your Heavenly Father, your key is your Faith. Your Faith will get you through tough times, your Faith will give you the light when you’re living in darkness and your Faith will be your reminder to always Glorify and praise the Father. Faith gives you access to God even when things are at their worst. But before you can have true Faith, you have to seek God and show an unwavering desire to have a relationship with the Father.

Matthew 17:20
“...Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
John 7:38
“Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”
2 Corinthians 5:7
“For we live by faith, not by sight.”

04
FASTING
Fasting regularly, so that you can find the brokenness needed to honor the Father and bow to him as the Almighty God and King of Kings. The only way you can hear God is if you’re broken to him. This is how you actually understand the language that God is speaking once he picks up the phone when you call. We sacrifice for our families, for our friends and even for our hobbies. Well don’t you think we need to sacrifice for the almighty Father? Jesus died on the cross for us which is the ultimate sacrifice. It makes sense that Jesus wouldn’t listen to us unless we are also sacrificing for him.

The LORD is near to the brokenhearted And saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Matthew 11:28
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
1 Kings 21:25-27
(There was never anyone like Ahab, who sold himself to do evil in the eyes of the LORD, urged on by Jezebel his wife. He behaved in the vilest manner by going after idols, like the Amorites the LORD drove out before Israel.) When Ahab heard these words, he tore his clothes, put on sackcloth and fasted. He lay in sackcloth and went around meekly.
Exodus 34:28
Moses was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights without eating bread or drinking water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant—the Ten Commandments.
Matthew 6:16
When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.

05
CONSTANT PRAYER
Constant prayer is the only way to continuously cover you, your family and all mankind with the the grace of God. Once you have gotten to step 5, you will likely feel the spirit of God taking over you. This is where you unlock all that God has in store for you. This is where you give thanks. This is where you begin to move things in your life for the Kingdom of God. Be sure to pray in unity and in agreement with other believers, as this makes sure that your line of communication with God is clear and static free!

Matthew 18:19
“Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven.

Ephesians 6:18
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

06
PRAISE THE FATHER
We must praise the Father, loud and boldly. This allows our Father to open up the gates of heaven, sending his angels to be fill you with blessings and protection. We must praise his name around our Families, our Friends and strangers. The Bible calls us to praise the lord. Many of us scream and shout for our favorite sports team or for our favorite musician. To often we won’t scream in praise for Jesus Christ, our Heavenly Father. When we get to step 6, we are probably walking different, talking different and feeling different. Our priorities have changed. This in itself is reason to praise the Lord. Constantly praising God will help solidify our walk as well as bring Gods Grace to our family, friends and our future.
Bible Reference
Psalm 150:6
“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord”
Deuteronomy 6:7

Sing to the LORD, all the earth; Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day. Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples. For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; He also is to be feared above all gods.

07
SERVE AS JESUS DID
Serve as Jesus did. There is no better way to honor God than to serve humanity in Jesus’ Name. When we serve, we are sharing all of the fruits that God has given us. This keeps us steadfast in our walk with God and it is the product of each of the first 6 steps. Number 7 is spreading Gods Love!

James 2:14-22
What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder. You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless[a]? Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did.
Isaiah 61:1-3
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.
Matthew 5:14-16
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 20:25-28
Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
