Malnutrition

Over 4 million people in Malawi face acute food insecurity in a given year, causing some of the worst childhood malnutrition conditions in the world. For over 15 years, The Jack Brewer Foundation sponsored orphan care centers continue to feed over 4,000 extremely impoverished children each day between the ages of 3 and 6 years old. Our teachers prepare our students for primary school and our full time nurses provide urgently needed care to combat illnesses caused by poor sanitation, food insecurity and lack of clean drinking water. Most of our students would be forced to miss multiple meals each day if they didn’t receive our meals, which are prepared with enhanced nutritional ingredients to help combat the rampant malnutrition.

Currently, 1 in 5 children in Haiti are malnourished, 1 in 10 are acutely malnourished and 1 in 14 will die before reaching the age of 5. Many children in Haiti have one meal per day, some less. The effects of chronic and acute malnutrition are life-long. Severe malnutrition suffered in the first two years of life in Haiti has resulted in irreversible physical and mental disabilities and depressed immune systems, making children more susceptible to contracting diseases and increasing the probability of childhood death. Malnutrition at an early age leads to reduced physical and mental development for a person’s entire life. The Jack Brewer Foundation and Serving Ministries currently supports the feeding of over 100 children of the Hope Center orphanages in Kenscoff, 650 kids at the Haitian Initiative in Cite’ Sole and over 1200 kids taught by Sister Mary and the Catholic Church.

US Food Distribution

Our Serving Ministries Food Distribution Center helps deliver food to over 500 families per week with plans to grow to 1000 families per week by the end of 2023. This includes fresh produce, meat and staple foods. Over two dozen volunteers help distribute much needed food each week. We recently opened a new Community Care & Outreach Center which has expanded pantry space and refrigeration to support our immediate growth in capacity. Local South Floridia families who qualify for emergency assistance, homeless families and many others benefit weekly from our food aid ministry.

And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body [a]to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.
